In-Home Massage For Seniors

Gentle, clinically-adapted massage therapy for older adults — delivered by RMTs with geriatric care training, at home, in retirement residences, or care facilities across Canada.

Professional Care — Brought To Where They Live.

Para 1: For many older adults, travelling to a massage clinic is a genuine barrier — not a preference. Transportation difficulties, mobility limitations, winter weather, and the physical effort of getting in and out of a vehicle after a session all reduce both the quality and the frequency of care. In-home massage removes every one of those barriers. The therapist travels. The senior stays exactly where they are most comfortable.

"Our geriatric-trained RMTs adapt every technique to the senior's condition, medications, and mobility — every time."

Family members and caregivers can book, manage, and receive session summaries on behalf of their loved one. We coordinate directly with retirement residences and long-term care facilities when needed.

Arthritis and joint pain

The most common reason older Canadians book massage. Gentle techniques reduce joint stiffness, improve circulation, and ease chronic arthritic pain without aggravating sensitive joint areas.

Isolation and low mood

Human touch is a fundamental need at every age. Regular therapeutic touch elevates mood through serotonin and oxytocin release — and reduces the physical symptoms of loneliness that many seniors carry.

Professional, Vetted, And Fully Credentialed.

Senior massage care requires a higher level of preparation than a standard session — and that's exactly what our therapists provide.

Geriatric massage protocols followed

Our senior care therapists are trained in specific geriatric massage protocols — lighter pressure, fragile skin awareness, adapted positioning, and sensitivity to the emotional context of aging.

Medication review at every visit

Many medications affect how massage is safely performed. Blood thinners, antihypertensives, and corticosteroids are all reviewed during intake — and adapted for — before every session, without exception.

Facility coordination included

For seniors in retirement communities or LTC facilities, we coordinate with staff before arrival. We follow all facility visitor protocols and work within their scheduling and care frameworks.

Family kept informed

After every session, the booking family member receives brief session notes and aftercare guidance. For regular patients, we develop an ongoing care plan collaboratively with family and care team.

· Fresh linens per client    · Sanitized equipment between sessions
· Regulated provincial standards followed

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is massage safe for seniors with osteoporosis?

Yes — with important modifications. Our therapists use light to moderate pressure only, avoid direct pressure on the spine, and focus on surrounding muscles rather than bone. Seniors with osteoporosis must disclose their diagnosis during health intake so every technique is planned accordingly.

Can my parent receive massage if they're on blood thinners?

Yes — with modified technique. Blood thinners increase bruising risk, so our therapists use lighter pressure and avoid all percussive techniques for clients on anticoagulants. This is reviewed without exception during the health intake at every visit.

My parent has dementia — can they still receive massage?

Absolutely. Therapeutic touch has strong evidence of benefit for individuals with dementia, reducing agitation, anxiety, and restlessness. Sessions are shorter (45 min), communication is calm and simple, and a family member is always welcome to stay.

Can the therapist come to a retirement home or care facility?

Yes — our RMTs regularly serve clients in retirement communities, assisted living facilities, and long-term care homes. We bring all equipment and coordinate with facility staff and protocols.

How often should my parent receive massage?

For general wellbeing, once every 2–4 weeks is typical. For pain management or post-hospital recovery, weekly sessions are recommended initially. Your RMT will suggest a schedule after the first session.

Can a family member stay in the room during the session?

Yes — and we encourage it, especially for first sessions and seniors with cognitive conditions. Your presence helps the senior feel comfortable and gives you visibility into the session quality.
